We are Instigate Unknown (IU), a dance theatre company working across Hip Hop and Contemporary performance. Our practice is driven by risk, collaboration, and a commitment to creating bold, site-responsive work rooted in real spaces and communities.

Central to our approach is Problematic Props, a methodology that uses objects as catalysts for movement and storytelling. We create work through process-led collaboration with artists and communities, often working in intergenerational and mixed-ability contexts.

We are committed to accessible, participatory practice, activating public and non-traditional spaces to create performances that are immediate, responsive, and grounded in lived experience.
